Wrong Hospital

According to The Telegraph, while driving in the parking lot of Burley General Hospital, an unidentified elderly woman's foot got stuck in the pedals. She plowed into two other cars, crashing to a halt. Rescue workers had to cut her out of her vehicle. She was then taken by ambulance to the Royal Blackburn Hospital, 15 miles away, for analysis and treatment.

Current protocol requires "blue light" patients (vehicular accident victims) be taken to the nearest A&E (emergency) hospital. Burley General was recently downgraded to an urgent care facility, so was not an option.

The car was badly damaged. Fortunately, the woman's injuries were not life-threatening.
